AMTI Supports the Next Generation of Golf Performance at Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)

For more than two decades, Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) has trusted AMTI force measurement technology to support its research into golf performance, player development, and biomechanics. This long-standing partnership recently reached another milestone with the completion of a new multi-lab installation at TPI’s campus in Oceanside, California.

Founded in 2003 by Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, TPI has become one of the world’s leading centers for golf performance research. Throughout that time, AMTI has been proud to provide force measurement solutions that help support the institute’s ongoing work. Today, Dr. Rose continues to work closely with AMTI as new golf swing and putting labs are developed across the campus.

The latest project centered on TPI’s newest facility, which includes three dedicated performance labs serving brands within the Acushnet family. AMTI supplied force plates for all three spaces:

The new TPI laboratory is also being equipped with a Qualisys motion capture system, providing researchers with an integrated biomechanics platform that combines high-precision motion capture with synchronized AMTI force plate data.

This installation builds on a relationship that spans more than 20 years. TPI’s campus already includes one of AMTI’s original golf laboratories featuring force plates that have been in service for approximately two decades, as well as a newer golf lab equipped with AMTI BMS600600 force plates. In 2024, AMTI also completed the installation of an instrumented pitching mound for TPI’s baseball performance laboratory, expanding the partnership beyond golf into other areas of sports performance research.

It’s always rewarding to work with organizations that continue to push the science of human movement forward. We’re honored that TPI has relied on AMTI technology throughout its history, and we’re excited to see how these new laboratories contribute to the next generation of biomechanics research, athlete assessment, and performance innovation.

We thank the entire TPI team for their continued partnership and look forward to supporting their work for many years to come.
