AMTI Force Plates Featured at the 2026 NHL Scouting Combine

Every year, the NHL Scouting Combine gives teams a unique opportunity to evaluate many of hockey’s most promising young athletes before the NHL Draft. Bringing together top prospects from around the world, the Combine combines interviews, medical assessments, and physical performance testing to help organizations gain a deeper understanding of each player’s potential.
AMTI was excited to once again play a role in this premier event, as our force plate technology was used during testing at the 2026 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo, New York.
The vertical jump testing station was operated by Steve Swanson and his team at Treadmetrix, one of AMTI’s valued partners. 2026 marked the ninth consecutive year that the Treadmetrix team has managed vertical jump testing at the NHL Combine, a testament to their expertise and commitment to delivering high-quality performance data.
For this year’s event, the team utilized a pair of AMTI BMS600900 force plates to capture highly detailed 3D force data during athlete jump assessments. Combined with AccuPower Solutions software, the system also incorporated high-speed video capture, allowing evaluators to pair analysis of ground force measurements with body movement.
Bringing Sports Science to Hockey’s Biggest Prospects
While vertical jump testing has long been used to assess lower-body power and explosiveness, force plate technology provides a far more comprehensive look at athletic performance.
By measuring forces in three dimensions, AMTI force plates allow performance specialists to evaluate how athletes generate, absorb, and apply force throughout a movement.
